In the heart of the village, taking centre stage in Peglio’s little square where farmers used to gather to thresh the wheat and have a glass of wine, stands Casa Battazzi.
Among the oldest families in the village, the Battazzi have been living here since the 1400s, at the foot of Peglio’s castle and next to the church. In fact, the church was moved from the mountaintop in 1500 and placed just a stone’s throw from their home.
It is a home that continues to exude a genuine and simple charm to this day. The building preserves architectural elements from the past, such as the exposed wooden beams, the ancient chalkstone staircase or the old wood-fired oven. It may need modernising in some of its interior finishes, but it’s move-in ready right from the start.
Casa Battazzi is the place to rejuvenate the spirit to the rhythm of the passing seasons: on sunny days, it’s the starting point for long walks amidst the sounds and scents of nature; on cold days, it’s a cosy refuge to be enjoyed by the warm glow of a fireplace.
Casa Battazzi’s windows let in the charming panorama all around and the sound of bells marking the passage of peaceful days, in tune both with humanity and nature.
